MATTHEW DAVID CLARK
BioMatthew Clark holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree from University of Dallas in Irving Texas. He is currently working on a two-person show with artist Tiffany Wolf due to open in November of 2009 at 500X in Dallas TX. His most recent exhibitions have focused on collaborative explorations with artists such as the exhibition Wishful with artist Christine Bisetto in 2008 and Wannabe with artist Natalie Macelliao in 2007 both presented at 500X in Dallas. Clark lives and works in Fort Worth Texas and continues to teach 3D design at Texas Christian University. StatementThe possibilities are infinite in these monochromatic objects while humor is a wannabe element for pairing a bicycle and parachute. This work is about objects of dissimilarity and proximity. By pairing the bicycle and parachute, one may imagine a crash landing or rescue from such doom. The activity of riding the combined object and propelling oneself through space is also a wonder of mine. I think of the line that can be cut through space by pumping the pedals. A contrast to this control is the parachute, a safety device for emergency only. When all else has failed, a savior form (parachute) emerges from a foreseen fate. While one could piece together a hypothetical conclusion or tragic reality, it is also possible to conjure up wishful thoughts of a heroic sort.
